Once again Tone Hočevar comes through as a brilliant storyteller: he intertwined the stories of dog heroes – including a rescue dog, a therapy dog, a dog who learned to give warning when it was necessary to act in diabetes, and even a movie star dog – with memories of his childhood and of his living around the world. “It’s much, truly much to their credit that in many places I’d got hold of behind-the-scenes insights and truths that otherwise I would not have known. In Mexico, in Cuba, and in Italy,” writes Hočevar. Everywhere where he was stationed, he and his family were accompanied by – pups.
